Hedy Yudaw has a special love for portraying indigenous imagery in her personal art and animation. She grew up as a member of the Truku tribe in Taiwan and was the first from her village to study Character Animation at CalArts. She went on to receive her MFA in Animation from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
Hedy got involved in animation in the early 1990's. She was trained by a professional Japanese animator at Fung Hsing Zi Animation in Taipei, Taiwan. After two months training, she was hired as an inbetweener. Fung Hsin Zi Animation's projects were largely based on 80's Japanese anime TV series, as well as some US titles such as Flintstones.
Hedy currently lives in Los Angeles where she has worked on multiple television series as a background painter, including
She has also worked most recently as a professional color stylist and background painter on the Netflix show Green Eggs and Ham. In addition to being a great team player at work, she creates her own personal projects. One of her short animated films, Voice, screened in several international film festivals. She continues to create a world entirely of her own as well on freelance Illustrations.
